We all strive to be the healthiest that we can be right? Some days are better than others for me.
Here are a couple of tips that help me along the way as I am creating a healthier lifestyle. I am in no way an expert or nutritionist and I still have my struggles but I can tell you about the things that worked for me.
Just start. Starting is the hard part. Forming new habits take a lot of work before it becomes second nature. Start where you are with what you have.
With the pandemic I did not renew my annual recreation center membership and it has been a complete struggle to “workout”. I just can’t get in the groove in my home. The dryer will beep and I am folding clothes instead of completing my workout. As they say “the struggle is real”.
Throw out the junk food and snack. Find snacks such as Balanced Breaks or Yogurt to fulfill your snacking habit. Popcorn is good too (not the movie theater butter). The popcorn has to be air popped… NO butter. It also keeps you full.
Drink more water. You will go to the restroom more but you are flushing your system… And you skin will look amazing.
Start to love fruit and find veggies that are satisfying to you. I have a sweet tooth and I find that having fruit helps satisfy that craving.
Find an activity that interest you.
This will get you moving, in a fun way that doesn’t seem like a workout. Consider a dance class, a kickball team, pickleball, anything that you can do on a regular basis.
Cut out fried foods. I was gifted an air fryer and it became my best friend. I am not a huge fan of fried foods to begin with but my air fryer is my new microwave.
Get rid of vegetable oil.
I do not have any vegetable oil in my home. I literally had to go and purchase some because my teenage daughter wanted to bake a box cake. Its a good thing that she likes chocolate because I had no ounce of temptation. I do have extra virgin olive oil, olive oil, avocado oil and coconut oil in my pantry. I use more extra virgin olive oil than any of the others.
Drink green tea. I have to put raw honey (healthier than sugar and has benefits) in mine, I just cannot drink unsweetened tea. As my daughter says “it’s like drinking dirty water. No shade i you like unsweetened tea. I just prefer a little flavor. When I am being really good and I am on a roll I drink green tea every day. My favorite is Yogi Bluberry Bliss.
You can dive as deep as you would like into your health journey and I am baby stepping my way into trying different foods but the entire key is to just begin and make daily strides to change your health.
