Get Through a Bad Mood Quickly With These 7 Tips

    August 24, 2021

You ever had one of those moments where you are just not feeling it? Maybe something happened like you wake up late, rushed to get out of the house then go outside to a car that won’t start, oh and its freezing cold. That would put you in a pretty bad moon huh? I’m about to school you with seven ways to get you through a bad mood quickly and create happiness. Get your notepad ready… Kidding.

Before we begin you have to understand why you are in a bad mood and feel the way that you feel.

    Have a little gratitude

First and foremost you need to remember all the things that you are grateful for. Let’s count a few. Well, you woke up in a warm (or cool) home, you probably had a cup of coffee or maybe on your way to grab your favorite latte. How are you going to get that late, in your car right? I mean, I’ve just shown you a few, I can keep going but I will leave that up to you. Need a little help? Check this out. So that is the first and probably most important way to get yourself out of a bad mood. Honestly, you should practice the act of gratitude more often then the little things won’t matter as much.

    Get Your body moving

The first thing that I do in the morning after I wake up and pray is get my workout in. I will be honest, if it doesn’t happen at 5am its probably not going to happen. Late workouts do not work for me but you find what works for you… Although I advise early, just saying. Another thing that I like to do is take an evening walk. The whole point is to get moving.

    Journal

I think that journaling is the answer to all things. I mean you can get your frustration out without saying things that you may regret or hurting anyone’s feelings. Besides venting out your frustration, journaling has so many other benefits. If journaling is not your thing, how about audio? Record yourself ranting then listen to it. Here is the most important tip when you are done journaling or recording. This step is so crucial. Ready? Okay, you have to tear up the journal page that you have just written and/or you have to delete the audio that you have just recorded. This is important because we do not want to sit in those feelings, we just need a safe place to get them out so that we can move on.

    Laugh

They say that laughter is the best medicine for a reason. Laughing releases endorphins, the “feel-good” chemical. I’m pretty sure that I read somewhere that research shows that endorphins gives us the ability to ignore pain. Listen now, that is not a direct quote so don’t say that I said so;  do the research for yourself because while I do not know that direct quote on endorphin ignoring pain I do know that its hard to be mad when you are laughing. Laughing will get you through a bad mood. Now that my friend you can quote me on.

CertainlyKiKI bad mood call a friend

    Call a friend

Remember how we were just talking about laughing? Call your friend that makes you giggle the most NOT the one who has more problems than a mouse in a maze. People who love you do not want to see you sad so they will do just about anything to make you smile. So I realize that that friend may not be available so how about watching a comedy or some funny TikToks ( those can keep you entertained for hours). I’m just saying get laughing because its hard to be in a bad mood when you are laughing.

Hug someone… Preferably someone that you love

Don’t go around trying to hug a stranger, or do, that’s up to you. However if you hug someone that you love and care about because physical touch can help you lower stress hormones. You ever cried and someone hugged you and you instantly felt a little better?

    CertainlyKiKi bad mood shopping

    Retail therapy

They say don’t do this. I say don’t make it a habit!!! But if you are in the funkiest of funks and you have had your eye on this handbag for a while (I’m a handbag girl) go grab it. Now listen don’t spend you rent money buying the bag but if you have a little something extra do the thing. If you don’t have the money for the bag (or whatever you have been eyeing) treat yourself to something smaller like a pedicure, even smaller, an amazing slice of cake (I love cake too lol).

I have given you several ways to get out of a bad mood. These tips can take your day from the drab blues to rose colored glasses and will help you to see the bright side of things. I live my life looking through rose colored glasses. Its good to be on this side, won’t you come join me?! Did any of these tips surprise you?
